What happens to the iPhone 13 Pro Max battery after 6 months. Strange situation

What happens to the iPhone 13 Pro Max battery after 6 months. Strange situation

I have been using the iPhone 13 Pro Max for a little over six months. The other day I was curious to know how his battery was doing: What is the max capacity now, how many charge cycles has it accumulated. I decided to check it not only with the built-in method, but also with the "third party" method.

The power and capacity of device batteries are known to decrease over time. The more unstable the operating conditions, the faster there will be an irreversible decrease in the maximum operating time of the device without the need for recharging.

But something has clearly changed in the latest generation of iPhones, because it shows strange results. And I am not the only one.

There is also an iPhone 13 in the edition with a similar level of charge, so I also checked it at the same time.

How do I use and charge iPhone 13

During these 6 months, 99% of the time the iPhone 13 Pro Max has been charged using MagSafe. Very happy with it "Puck": it has taken the perfect place next to the bed, effectively "recharges" the battery up to 100% overnight and adjusts the charging rate itself depending on the heat of the case.

I don't use fast chargers as such, but I have connected my iPhone to the original 20W USB-C drive on a few occasions.

The charge of the smartphone is, on average, 7-8 hours of active screen time up to date. Sometimes they are games, more often they are messaging, mail, browser and video services. At the end of the day, there is rarely less than 40% charge left. The brightness is automatic, usually above average. Or at most if I'm outdoors.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 charges indiscriminately, whatever it is. Car chargers, other computers, various chargers. The charge level is similar.

What is the maximum battery capacity that iOS shows

100%, both mobile phones.

When using the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the situation was very different. They both lost approx. 5-7% maximum capacity for approximately the same period.

Not only is it strange, but the internet is full of similar screenshots from iPhone 13 owners. More recently, a mini-flashmob has been taking place on Western social media, with Trinas owners sharing similar observations.

Perhaps something has fundamentally changed in the way iOS calculates maximum battery capacity. Or the loading algorithms have changed in the current versions of the operating system. Lastly, it could just be errorwhich apple has not yet addressed.

What a third-party app has told us about the battery

To check the battery capacity in detail, you can use the free CoconutBattery software.

Here I found that both iPhones effectively conserved 100% of the maximum battery capacity (line Design capacity). So it doesn't seem like just a "bug".

Right now I have 141 charge cycles and the iPhone 13 has 182 cycles. “Batteries are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity until 500 cycles have elapsed. Theoretically, both devices should have lost only 5-7% each in the elapsed time. But that didn't happen.

How to check the battery status on your iPhone

Just in case: simple instructions.

Built way: Open Settings -> Battery -> Battery status.

Through the Mac software: free CoconutBatteryOpen it and connect your iPhone using a Lightning cable. The data is displayed in the tab IOS device.

I wonder how you're doing. Write in the comments. iPhone model, approximate date of purchase, and battery condition to date. Especially interested in the latest generation, the iPhone 13 and its modifications. It can't be that the battery hasn't lost capacity in six months.
