"Live Photos" on the iPhone 6s: what it is and how it works
The innovation belongs to the category of mini-animation, something between a photo and a video, and is designed to clearly demonstrate the capabilities of the 3D Touch force gesture system. What looks like a normal image, when pressed fully, turns into a small video.
The technology to create live Photos es simple: having determined that the decided to take a photo, the iPhone camera automatically begins to record video, performing an additional action in addition to the basic task. A packet, consisting of the photo itself and two video clips up to 1,5 seconds long, enters RAM. The first captures what happened before the moment the painting was captured, the second after. All of this is stored in a special format and, according to Cupertinians, takes up much less disk space than a typical 3-second video.

And, at the very least, they will help diversify the process of filling in personal files.
Can see live Photos on any Apple device, including Mac and Apple Watch, that are not equipped with Touch 3D; for this, the required button will be added to the corresponding applications. The revived snapshot can be set on the lock screen or assigned as desktop wallpaper, and in the case of smart watches, the image will automatically "come to life" only when you move your wrist in the device owner's field of vision.
No one is going to hide the most curious technology from the public: trusted brand developers will soon have the necessary tools at their disposal. Rumor has it that Facebook plans to integrate for live Photos in your iOS client app by the end of this year.
