How to delete a picture in Windows 10 and Windows 11 search

Following recent updates to Windows 10, an image has appeared in the search box on the right and a Microsoft Bing image has appeared in the search bar. Windows 11 s with the latest updates, opening the search bar may also see a similar image. The usefulness is questionable and these images can be removed if desired.

Disable image in search box and photo in search bar

To remove an image in the Windows 10 search box as well as the search bar in the same version of the system, just follow these steps:

1. Right-click in the search box on the taskbar.
2. Expand the search item.
3. Disable the “Show main search” option.

This will remove both the image on the right side of the search field and the photo in the Windows 10 search bar.

In Windows 11 the steps are slightly different, the deactivation is done in Preferences:

1. Open Settings (you can press Win+I on your keyboard).
2. Go to Privacy and Security – Permissions related to search. A second option to get to the right section is to click on the three dots in the top right, above the image, in the search bar, and open Settings.
3. At the bottom of the settings page, under “Other Options”, turn off the “Show main in search” option. See content suggestions in the search box and on the search home page.”

This will make all unnecessary images disappear in the search for Windows 11.
