Go back from Windows 10 to Windows 7

Go back from Windows 10 to Windows 7

Method 1: System Tools

If it hasn't been more than 10 days since you installed Ten, you can go back to Seven using the tools provided by Microsoft developers.

    1. You'll have to open a window "Parameters".The easiest way to do this is to use a combination of Win + I. When it appears, use the item "Updates and security"..
    2. Choose here ... "Restore". and find the block with the name on the page «Back to Windows 7». If the trial period has not yet expired, the button "Start". will be available, click on it.

    1. To continue, specify the reason for the restoration of the "sevens" (you can select any, no monitoring is provided), and then click "Next"..
    2. When prompted to install the latest update, click "No thanks"..
    3. Read the warning and then use the button "Next"..

    1. Read here about recovery details and click again "Following".
    2. Now click on «Back to Windows 7».

The rollback process will start Windows 7, wait until it finishes and then the known OS will return.

Method 2: Windows Rollback Utility

If the trial period has expired, the first alternative to the system utility is to consider a solution called Windows Rollback Utility.

    1. To the file with the necessary software, the resource will ask you to enter your email and name. You can enter any data, there is no control over it.

    1. The tool is similar to a recovery image, so before using it you will need to write it to a flash drive or optical disc. The developers themselves recommend using UltraISO for this purpose. If for some reason this program is not right for you, there are alternatives – the first and second can be found in the following guide.More information: Guide to burning an ISO image to a flash drive
    2. Next, you will need to configure the BIOS of your target computer to boot from the new media; one of our authors already explained how to do it in another article. Read more: Configure BIOS to boot from USB stick
    3. Once the preparations are complete, connect the drive with the tool to the target computer and start it up. Wait for the interface to load and then use the option "Automated Repair"..
    4. The next window will open a selection of operating systems – look there “Windows 7 (archived)”, highlight it and press the key "Roll back". If the tool reports that the version of the installed operating system is too recent, select the option "System Restore.".
    5. Wait for the procedure to complete, then remove the media containing the software environment and restart your computer.

After rebooting, the previously installed "seven" should appear, and the task will be completed.

Method 3: Complete Reinstall

The last resort to upgrade from Windows 10 to 7 is to completely reinstall the operating system. Of course, this procedure is the most complicated of those presented, so you have to take it seriously, because while the differences between XP and 7 were relatively small, 10 is already quite tweaked and moving from it to its predecessor is only possible as last resource. If you are sure that your computer's hardware and drivers are suitable, use the article in the link below; otherwise the only viable option is to use a virtual machine.
