ByFly Modem Configuration

Beltelecom, the largest Internet provider in Belarus, recently launched a ByFly sub-brand, under which it implements tariff plans and routers, by analogy with CSOs! Ukrainian operator Ukrtelecom. In our article today, we want to introduce you to ways to configure routers from this sub-brand.

ByFly Modem Options and Configuration

First, a word about officially certified devices. Several router options are certified by the ByFly operator:

1. 1. Promsvyaz M200 from modifications A and B (analog of ZTE ZXV10 W300).
   2. Promsvyaz H201L.
   3. Huawei HG552.

The specified devices are almost indistinguishable from each other in hardware and certified according to the communication specifications of the Republic of Belarus. The main operator parameters for subscribers are the same, but some positions depend on the region, which we will definitely mention in the detailed options. The considered routers also differ in the appearance of the configuration interface. Now let's see the details of the configuration of each of the mentioned devices.

Promsvyaz M200 modifications A and B

These routers make up the vast majority of ByFly's subscriber devices. They differ from each other only in of the standards in Annex-A and Annex-B, respectively, but are otherwise identical.

Preparation for connecting Promsvyaz routers is no different from this procedure for other devices in this class. The first step is to determine the location of the modem, then connect it to the power supply and the ByFly cable, and then connect the router to the computer using a LAN cable. Next, you need to check the parameters to get T / IPv4 addresses: call the connection properties and use the corresponding item in the list.

To configure the parameters, go to the modem configurator. Launch any suitable web viewer and enter the address 192.168.1.1. Enter a word in both fields in the window .

After entering the interface, open the tab "Internet" , which contains the main configuration we need. The ByFly carrier wired connection uses a PPPoE connection, so you will need to edit it. The parameters are as follows:

1. "VPI" y "VCI" they are 0 and 33, respectively.
2. "ISP" : PPPoA / PPPoE.
3. "name" : according to the scheme «номер договора@beltel.by»without quotation marks.
4. "" : according to the supplier's data.
5. "Default route" - "Yes".

Leave the remaining options unchanged and click "SAVE" .

By default, the router works as a bridge, which means network access only for the computer to which the device is connected with a cable. If you need to use the device to distribute Wi-Fi to a smartphone, tablet or laptop, you will need to additionally configure this function. Open tabs «Configuration of Interface" - "LAN" in sequence. Use these parameters:

1. "Main IP address" - 192.168.1.1.
2. "Subnet mask" - 255.255.255.0.
3. "DH" : enabled position.
4. "DNS relay" - Use only -discovered DNS.
5. Primary DNS server y DNS server secondary : depend on the region where you are. The full list can be found on the official website, link "DNS servers configuration" .

Click on "SAVE" and restart the router for the changes to take effect.

You will also need to set up a wireless connection on these routers. Open the tab «Wireless» that is found in parameter block "Interface configuration" . Change the following options:

1. "Access point" - Activated.
2. "Wireless mode" - 802.11 b + g + n.
3. "PerSSID switch" - Activated.
4. "Broadcast SSID" : activated.
5. "SSID" - Enter the name of your Wi-Fi.
6. "Authentication type" , preferably WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.
7. "Encryption" - TKIP / AES.
8. "Pre-shared key" : security code for wireless connection, not less than 8 characters.

Save the changes and then restart the modem.

Promsvyaz H201L

An older version of the ByFly modem, however, is still used by many s, especially the inhabitants of the interior of Belarus. The Promsvyaz H208L variant differs only in some hardware characteristics, so the guide below will help you to configure the second model of the device.

The stage of its preparation is no different from that described above. The method of accessing the web configurator is also similar: start the web browser in the same way, go to the address 192.168.1.1where you need to enter the combination as authorization data.

To configure the modem, open the block "Network interface" . Then click "WAN connection" and select the tab "Net" . First, specify the connection option "Connection name" - PVC0o byfly. Once done, press the button "Remove" to immediately reconfigure the device to operate in router mode.

Enter these values:

1. "Guy" - PPPoE.
2. "Connection name" - PVC0 или byfly.
3. "VPI / VCI" - 0 / 33.
4. «Profile name» - the same pattern as in the case of Promsviaz M200: номер договора@beltel.by.
5. "" - The received from the provider.

Click the button "Create" to apply the entered parameters. You can configure a wireless network in the section "WLAN" from the main menu. First, open the item "Multi-SSID" . Do the following:

1. "Enable SSID" : check the box.
2. "SSID name" : set the name to the desired name of the wi-fi.

Click the button "Send" and open the item "Security" . Here enter:

1. "Authentication type" - A variant of WPA2-PSK.
2. "WPA phrase" : a phrase de  to access the network, at least 8 characters in English letters.
3. "WPA encryption algorithm" - AES.

Use the button "Send" again and restart the modem. This completes the operation of configuring the parameters of the router in question.

Huawei HG552

The last common type is the Huawei HG552 of various modifications. This model can have the subscripts -d , -f-11 y -e . They differ technically, but have almost identical design options for the configurator.

The algorithm of the preset stage of this device is similar to the previous two. After connecting the modem and the computer with additional configuration of the latter, open a web browser and enter the configuration utility located at 192.168.1.1. The system will offer to - set "name" , the super, "" - as !@HuaweiHgw, then click on "" .

The Internet connection parameters of this router are in the block basic , WAN section . First, select a configurable connection from those available: it is called "INTERNET" followed by a series of letters and numbers. Click on it.

Next, let's start configuring. The values ​​are:

1. "WAN connection" - Enable.
2. "VPI / VCI" - 0 / 33.
3. "Connection type" - PPPoE.
4. "name" : , which usually consists of the subscription agreement number to which @ beltel.by is attached.
5. "" : the contract .

Finally click "Send" to save the changes and reboot the router. When you are done with the connection, proceed to configure the wireless settings.

Wi-Fi settings are in the block "Basic" , the option "WLAN" , the eyelash "Private SSID" . Make the following adjustments:

1. "Region" - BELARUS.
2. The first option is "SSID" - Enter the desired name for the Wi-Fi network.
3. The second option " SSID » is Enable.
4. "Security" : WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.
5. "WPA Pre-Shared Key" is a keyword for the Wi-Fi connection, at least 8 digits long.
6. "Encryption" - TKIP + AES.
7. Click on "Send" to accept the changes.

This router is also equipped with the WPS function: it allows you to connect to Wi-Fi without entering a . To activate this option, check the corresponding menu item and click "Send" .

This is the algorithm used to configure ByFly modems. Of course, the list is not limited to the mentioned device models: you can, for example, buy a more powerful one and adjust it accordingly, using the instructions above as a sample. However, it should be noted that the device must be certified for Belarus and the Beltelecom operator in particular, otherwise the Internet may not work even with the correct parameters.
